Pittsburgh's offense has been inconsistent through six games but has posted two consecutive 30-point outings and has started to gain some momentum, especially after Russell Wilson's debut.

The rushing attack, led by Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, has been efficient and highly effective over the last few weeks and is establishing the ground game as the offensive identity. 

Though the Steelers' offense is steadily improving, the receiving corps. leaves a lot to be desired. Outside of George Pickens, the team lacks much production at the position and will need to fix the issue before the trade deadline.

With Pittsburgh's need for another playmaker in the passing game, Pro Football Focus' Bradley Locker suggests Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp as a potential trade target for the Steelers.

If Les Snead wanted to deal Kupp, Pittsburgh would be a perfect partner. The Steelers have generally struggled on offense in Arthur Smith’s first year calling plays, especially through the air. Pittsburgh ranks 13th in EPA per play, primarily to a receiving corps that sits 13th in receiving grade. Not having a viable No. 2 opposite George Pickens has certainly limited the group’s ceiling.

Omar Khan has searched for a complementary piece to Pickens over the last year, but has repeatedly struck out on big names like Brandon Aiyuk and Adams. Maybe Kupp will finally be the answer.

While many are clamoring for the Steelers to acquire Kupp, there are many concerns surrounding the potential deal for the former All-Pro.

Kupp hasn't been able to stay healthy over the last couple of years, playing in just 23 of a possible 51 games since 2022. Additionally, the former third-round pick is 31 years old and is likely nearing the end of his prime.

These are legitimate concerns about Kupp, but general manager Omar Khan should still contemplate a trade for the veteran receiver. Kupp has posted three seasons with over 90 receptions and is one of the most savvy route-runners in the NFL. The former Eastern Washington standout would be a perfect complement to Pickens and also a nice security blanket for Wilson. 

According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, Mike Silver and Jourdan Rodrigue, the Rams are seeking a second-round pick for Kupp. Though Pittsburgh would have to surrender a premium pick for the Super Bowl 56 MVP, the report added that Los Angeles is willing to take on some of his 2024 salary. 

Trading for Kupp would come with some risk for Pittsburgh, but if the Steelers want a chance to hang up banner No. 7, it's a move they should consider making.
